To set the record straight on the report on annexation I said I have absolutely no interest in annexation of the parcel south of Wilshire and might, I emphasis might, consider the Robinson parcel because it is a notch out that could stand to be filled but only if it remained at the current extremely low density zoning and residential, not commercial.

As for the north parcel, I am yet to be convinced the claimed gain is worth.

I have no annexation desires unless there is demonstrable economic gain and service to PTC. No losses such as more commercial are as south of 74 at Wilshire would bring.

Harold Logsdon said he would want to annex the property south of 74 at Wilshire because it was zoned commercial and wanted the revenues of retail into PTC but didn't understand why we would want consider the other at low density.

As I said, annexing to control borders only moves the border out to enable more development desiring to be annexed in or seen to need controlling.

Don,

You are right on the money with this one. Density is the key, as far as I am concerned any additional properties brought into the city would be residential.

On yet another subject, please consider some form of zoning or precincts for the police. The primary rationale for an all purpose police headquarters is for them to maintain their accredidation. Having them accredited from some muckity-muck empirical organization would be at best tertiary to what their mission "serve and protect" implies.

Just my two cents worth.

That one parcel does create a bit of confusion on infrasture and service. Adding it in would make Robinson the line and stop any potential legal issues on police, fire, etc.

Mike, we are actually on the precinct concept. PTC is the size of a precinct and as pricincts are it is divided into zones. Adding the 5th Zone keeps us in line with proper execution.

Another issue is adding more manned stations greatly increases budgetary costs.

I expect some refinements by the incoming new Chief from interviewing him.

There is a misconception the police come and go from the PD during the shifts. They do not. They are dispersed to their assigned zones and operate from there.

Adding the ATVs is already proving a success for adding high profile presence and promoting citizen police interaction, a long desired and needed facet of policing.

I believe you will find the PD improving quickly over time now.

Accredidation does have bennies even if not always self evident.

Thanks for the comments, Mike. Always welcome and helpful, either in new ideas or seeing where more communications are needed.

Regarding the 35 Acre Annexation in Wilksmoor, this one is a have to do based on past legal efforts, promises and such. Not a real choice in the matter.

By Law, it was an error to create island county properties within a city. It simply has to be fixed.

We also need the full annexation now to proceed with getting ACC, which should actually aid in making the 55 plus Scarbrough development a success without adding any pressures on the school system.

As for the 89 Acres, that remains a point of problems as far as I am concerned. I do not support high density there. I would much rather have education and research facilities.

Publix I support and actually approached in February. They bring in much needed money to our tax base, logically complete our city limits line, old line being confusing and impractical, pay for the infrastructure and service costs already being received from PTC and will satisfy a large number of citizens asking for golf cart access to the shopping there.
