Ordinances, Forum, Etc. (http://www.donhaddix.com/?p=29)
January 9th, 2008
Ordinance revisions are moving forward, but will take time. Fully developed impact studies, no exception size limits and so forth are new goals for inclusion. Doug Sturbaum and I are dedicated to working for them.
A forum on the PTC site is moving forward as well. Hopefully it will be seen in place in February.
Discussions on maximum building heights now requires future proposals over 35′ to seek final approval from the Council. That is a change from either only requiring Fire, FAA and/or Planning Commission approval.
My position was that I did not want to see PTC growing upward now that we are almost at build out. That I believed developers would seek to save money on land and material costs by redeveloping to greater density and height. Doug Sturbaum concurred and insisted on Council approval for exceptions to 35′.
Other variance, zoning and related issues are also in discussion. Some began last year, with some changes in directions added this year, some added this years and some will be discussed later.
A lot of work is needed and is underway.
Time will tell what changes can be accomplished in the next two years and what may have to wait until the next Council. How the Council dynamics will form over time will heavily dictate how much success will occur.
Please stay informed and involved in the future of PTC.
