Tonight we annexed in the 35 acres.
No, I know no one wants to hear that we had to or we would get sued and lose. But that is actually the reality. State Law requires we get rid of the island.
Remember, I did not create this problem nor was even on Council when it was created. The annexation of the Wieland and Scarbrough properties did. One has to play with the cards they are dealt.
But on the bright side this property is owned by private citizens, not developers, and by the way State Law is worded it basically must remain Agricultural Reserve for a year before the county looses its right to say no to any proposal.
A year puts it into the next Council and with the right people elected we will not have to rezone it to anything unwanted. So make sure the right people are elected.
The key focus now is denying the rezoning to Multi-Family Wieland wants for the 89 Acres. That density is way too high and we do not need any more homes.
That will further impact the future usage of the 35 Acres, which I do not want to be more homes or retail.
We have to get back to the PTC Vision, start building as many protections into any agreements with developers as possible and just plain getting to where we can and do start saying no to what we don't want. Sadly, we are not there in so many issues at this time.
