This residential development is proposed in the Southpark area of the Industrial Park.

Here are the reasons this is a not a good plan:

You have to drive though Industrial to access.
It has Industrial, Commercial and Falcon Field for neighbors.
At night, it is isolated when all the neighbors go home.
It is zoned Industrial for a reason. This area was never intended to be residential.
High $300-700,000.00 are not downsizing priced homes.
Two story homes are not downsizing homes.
4,000 sq' are not downsizing homes.
We have a surplus of homes on the market and waiting to go on the market. That is not going to change for years to come.

These are high priced family homes, not downsizing retiree and empty nester homes. We do not want family homes in this area.

Here (http://www.trulia.com/GA/Peachtree_City/30269/) gives a feel of what is for sale, currently. This does not include homes pulled off the market because they were not selling or they cannot get a minimum price.

you're right about the price.
maybe if these homes were starting in the low to mid 100's this would make sense.

Good Points Don, when I read about the presentation I wondered how the City Reps could keep from laughing. 4,000 square foot lake side "cottages"?

Someone emailed me and said the Planning Commission approved the plan 3-2.

Now it moves to Council June 18th.

Let's just hope we don't have a 3-2 decision to build on Council.

LOL- 4,000 sq. ft. cottage...sure if the main residence is 10,000 or more!:D

I don't know how Cyndi will vote.

Yea, 4,000 is double or more what many raise families in.

3-2 yes vote, you could see all the ducks lining up for months. I hope the City is prepared for the fall out if and when the "4,000 sq.ft. cottages" are built and the first lawsuit is filed against the city for noise or God forbid an accident. I drove thru the area to get an understanding of the layout. I cannot fathom how our "Planning Commission" could in any way think this fits the master plan. This will go down as another example of our spiral toward being just another town run by folks with ties to special interests. What is the need for a Planning Commission who on the surface don't have an understanding of the master plan? They are supposed to be stewarts of what was at one time a planned community. Their role is to safeguard that vision, not twist and bend the plan for every snake oil developer who knocks on the door. It would seem accountability to the citizens and taxpayers is in short supply with that group. It will be of great interest to see how Ms. Plunkett votes on this, if she has any thought of retaining her seat or run for another office.

I was at the PTC TEA party and the parade. You could hear the negativity when CP and HL either passed or were announced at each. Sad that Pathway still "Owns" PTC. That will change with the next election. We seem to be saying that alot lately. Hope it isn't too late.

Is this ugly baby still out there? I haven't heard it mentioned in awhile.

Most assuredly.

The only thing hold it at bay is the election. Let us hope Logsdon sees it as a bad thing for his race, even after November 3rd.
